Ceasefire
Ceasefire
A wall has come down and the slogan has come out of it. MAKE ART NOT WAR is sprayed in thick red, yellow, green and blue graffiti letters, with bricks, dust and splatter still flying and a spray can lying in the rubble at the bottom. The old protest line is painted here by someone who has seen what the other option leaves behind. Where there was a wall, there is now colour.
Four-colour enamels are screen printed and layered across two sheets of glass. The depth between the layers lifts the lettering off the surface and makes the debris look like it is still falling. The glass stands on a freestanding hardwood base, ready to display on a desk, shelf or sideboard.
