Four Seasons: Autumn

A young face settled into the season. Amber, olive and deep blue gather across the features as leaves drift and darken around them, and the expression is quiet, reserved and content. The rush of summer has passed, and this face has found that beauty doesn’t have to be active. It can simply sit, watch and enjoy. This is the face of calm: unhurried, self-possessed and at ease with the turning year.

Four-colour enamels are screen printed and layered across two sheets of glass. The depth between the layers lets the warm and cool tones settle and shift as the light moves through them. The glass stands on a chunky 30 mm yew base with a wavy edge, so the natural grain and curve of the wood sit beside the printed face.
