Four Seasons: Summer

A young face that has just discovered how good the sun feels. Gold and yellow light floods the features, leaves frame the brow, and there is a spark of mischief in the expression, as if the whole bright world were a joke shared with you. This is the face of delight: lively, expressive and wholly alive to the warmth.

Four-colour enamels are screen printed and layered across two sheets of glass. The depth between the layers lets the golds burn and shift as the light moves through them. The glass stands on a chunky 30 mm yew base with a wavy edge, so the natural grain and curve of the wood sit beside the printed face.
