Defiance

Masks We Wear

A young girl’s face, fractured like dry earth. She has seen too much, too soon, and the cracks show it. Veins of yellow and blue run through the damage, but the dark, direct stare holds steady and meets you head on. This is the mask of refusal: she has been tested, she has not given way, and she is not looking away.

Four-colour enamels are screen printed and layered across two sheets of glass. The depth between the layers lets the fractures catch the light and appear to shift as you move around the piece. The glass stands on a hardwood plinth, ready to display on a shelf, mantel or sideboard.
